A relaxed shopping experience and more efficient communication thanks to Instore Communication
Instore Communication enables efficient communication between employees and a relaxed shopping experience for customers in the connected Lidl and Kaufland stores. Thanks to STACKIT as a cloud provider, the digital sovereignty of the KRITIS-relevant suppliers is maximally secured at all times.
The challenge
Lidl and Kaufland, as part of Schwarz Group, one of the largest retail groups in Europe, were looking for a way to modernize their store communication. The existing solution required manual, time-consuming interventions in every store. For example, announcements had to be exchanged manually via SD cards. This process grew with each new branch. The goal was a flexible, centralized solution that would support the growth of the store network while separating customer communications from employee communications to improve the shopping experience. As the new solution needed to be scalable and flexible, it was clear that it should run in a cloud environment.

The implementation
The choice fell on the sovereign STACKIT Cloud. Following an inventory and requirements analysis, a central control logic was developed to efficiently handle the large amount of data and the number of branches. With the new cloud solution, it was no longer necessary to replace SD cards in the stores.
Instead, the import of announcements could be controlled centrally per country via an application. The system uses MongoDB database technology and Cloud Foundry as runtime to efficiently process large volumes of data and implement adjustments quickly. The new solution also includes the Schwarz Multiboard Controller (SMC) and branch headsets for internal communication.

By using the STACKIT Cloud, the data processed by the Instore Communication system is protected at all times. The new cloud solution enables central organization of branch communication and also offers the following benefits:
